We are ready to dig into the siding. Cutting the flashing off the windows we make a discovery of how in-efficiently our energy efficient windows were installed, nothing we cannot fix though. We also get to start installing the siding. (Doing the install by myself, I have to use some tricks) come along and I will show you how I do it. Considering the learning curve, we make some real progress.

Jumping from prepping the roof to having the roof done! Sorry I was not able to show all of the work but here is the end result. Even though I do notice a few little mistakes but it is still really beautiful looking and should be even better working than the old roof! Now for the siding that needs to be replaced and the game plan to really make this look awesome! Get ‘er done!

First stages of getting the roof replaced, repaired and in good shape. As we tear off the old roofing, we discover how much work we really are looking at. Constructural archaeology, it’s amazing the story a house will tell you as you do some demolition. Several sheets of decking will need to be replaced, some structure needs repair, and 3 days of tear off, new facial around 2/3ds of the house, then roof is ready to start being put together.

While waiting for weather, paperwork and supplies to lineup, we are working on the massive amount of prep work required to get this house ready to paint. Everything from small pin holes to large pieces of sheetrock being added to holes. This kind of work is not fun in any fashion but getting it done is vital to the final product looking as good as possible.

Although I do own a mower for my home, being away for 5 weeks and with the type of mowing I needed to do, I bought a $50 mower.. Although it was supposed to run, it had sat for a while and needed some work.. While working on the yard, figured it was time to get the sprinkler system repaired. easy fix but it still needed to be done. Once everything was working, we tested the sprinklers and put the mower to work…. maybe.. ok guess we’ll do some demo as well…
